Color Block Cloth Napkin | Handwoven by the Mendez Family
Color Block Cloth Napkin: set of four, 100% natural cotton napkins. Designed for AUGUST ETTA and handwoven on a traditional standing loom by the Mendez family in the Oaxaca Valley. The natural cotton fibers used to weave these kitchen essentials assume a softer hand with every wash. This color block pattern was created for every season, to add the perfect touch of color to your mesa.
Weaving traditions in the Mendez family date back to the 1920s when Emiliano Mendez, the patriarch of this multigenerational family of master weavers, learned to weave from his mother at a young age. His strong interests in both the technical and creative aspects of weaving arts guided him to become one of the most highly-regarded artisan weavers in the Oaxaca Valley today. He has passed down his knowledge to his children, who continue his legacy today, along with his wife of now fifty-five years, Delfina. It is a honor to collaborate with this incredible family on AUGUST ETTA textiles for the home and body. See more of their artistry in the AUGUST ETTA everyday tunics and caftans (coming soon) designed and made exclusively for AE.
WOVEN is the AUGUST ETTA commitment to weaving a social tapestry across borders through conscious consumerism. 5% of all AUGUST ETTA profits go directly to Fundación En Vía in support of women entrepreneurs in Oaxaca, Mexico where many of the offerings from AUGUST ETTA are handmade.
